The Career Path, Finland.

I wrote a recent article that detailed the work of Candy Chang who has received international acclaim for her use of public spaces as a way to increase dialogue and reflection amongst communities.

Candy recently supported a project in Turku, Finland, named Career Path, where university students were able to participate in such a project. Utilising the main path from residences to their university campus (their ‘path to a career’ if you will), this thoroughfare was transformed into a place where students could reflect on the careers they aspired to do when they were younger as well as what they hoped to do now.

I heard back from Candy a little while after I first detailed her work,

‘I’d say to my younger self, follow your questions.’

Being an artist, perhaps it shouldn’t be surprising that Candy felt something a little more visual would also be good advice to young people…
